Ganderbal, Mar 17 (KNO): Scores of casual laborers from the Sindh Forest Division held a protest outside the Divisional Forest Officer’s (DFO) office in Ganderbal, demanding the immediate release of their long-pending salaries.
The laborers, who have been working in the region for several years, expressed frustration over the delayed payments, claiming that they have not received their wages for an extended period, causing significant financial hardship.
Carrying placards and banners, the protesters as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) chanted slogans and appealed to the authorities for action. “We have been working tirelessly for years, yet our voices have been ignored," one protester said. “We urge CM Omar Abdullah to step in and ensure our pending salaries are released immediately, bringing an end to the financial distress we’ve endured.”
The protest sheds light on the plight of casual laborers in the region, who often face irregular wage payments and lack of job security. With many laborers depending on their earnings for daily survival, the continued delay in payments has left them struggling to make ends meet.
“We appeal to CM Omar Abdullah to address the issue and bring justice to the hardworking people of Ganderbal,” another protester said. “The government must prioritize the well-being of its workers and ensure we are treated fairly.”
The laborers are also demanding the regularization of their jobs, seeking stability and security in their employment. The protest has garnered attention and has raised important questions about the treatment of casual laborers in the region—(KNO)
